DKollektiv_Convention, 2023
Description
The DKollektiv is a collective of artists formed in January 20 I 6 and declared a non-profit association on February 9, 2016. Its registered office is at 22, Haaptstrooss, L-6665 Herbom. The association is registered in the Trade and Companies Register under registration number F00 10695 and at the Joint Social Security Centre under the 2016 registration number 61 00292.
The DKollektiv was created as part of the second Biennale of Industrial Culture and Innovation, launched by the Bassin Minier Foundation in order to focus on a unifying theme a panoply of artistic and cultural events and thus make the industrial culture of the region of the Luxembourg mining area more alive.
born by artists Misch Feinen, Nora Wagner, Marlène Kreins and Justine Blau, the DKollektiv aims to promote and participate in the dissemination of contemporary art, through the organisation, design and realisation of multidisciplinary artistic projects that try to get off the beaten track. To this end, it actively seeks exchange with local populations, associations, municipalities, institutions and works councils.
The collective’s activities began with the project of I’Atelier D in 2016 which aimed to create on Dudelange’s industrial wasteland a creative space related to the place, its history, its population and its constant evolution. For a month, the DKollektiv moved to the former locomotive workshop at the mill site, inviting artists, architects, designers, historians and citizens to think, create and discuss the industry, its past and its future. In 2017, Workshop D moved to the Fondouq Hall in Dudelange, where DKollektiv continued its activities by offering various workshops and workshops on construction, iron work, carpentry, photography and analog film.
As part of the construction of the new Neischmelz residential district on) the old site of the factory, the Hall Fondouq will be dedicated to demolition. On the occasion of Esch2022, the European Capital of Culture, and in order to sustain the Dinner workshop in the new district, the DKollektiv launched the “dkollage” project aimed at the participatory renovation of the Vestiaires-wagonnage building, located on the same site. The VEWA, the name given to this reassigned building, will now serve as a sustainable foothold for DKollektiv and other initiatives and will aim to pursue the idea of the space of creation and exchange.
From its new base, the DKollektiv continues to develop artistic projects raising societal and environmental issues, which are nurtured by the remnants of the past while taking a look at the future and innovation. This agreement will allow it to hinder a transition to professionalisation, with which the association will find financial stability and an established place.
