The history of alpine pastures and holdings in the Gesäusetal valley
Description
In the valley floor between Gesäuse entrance to Gstatterboden, the relics of former pasture and grassland use are hardly to be found today, even though they decisively shaped the landscape forty years ago.
From almwirtschaftr" use, to the management by the railway guards of ÖBB, to the reforestation by the Steiermärk Landesforste in the late 1960s, the arc stretches. This is documented by old cadastral maps, forest facilities, aerial pictures and panoramic photographs, supplemented by recent photos from 2007.
