Illuminated routes in the Wuppertal cycle network

The data set comprises the illuminated sections of the Wuppertal cycling network, consisting of the cycle paths in the urban area of Wuppertal signposted in accordance with the road traffic regulations, the local signposted municipal cycle paths of the city of Wuppertal, including related sections of cycle paths outside the Wuppertal urban area, as well as the extract relevant for Wuppertal from the North Rhine-Westphalia cycling network. The data set was created on the occasion of the publication of the cycling data in the Wuppertal GeoPortal in the second quarter of 2015 in a labor-intensive semi-automated process by comparison with the data of the lighting information system BELIS. It will only be continued after an explicit need for updating has been identified. The line elements contained in the dataset are extracts from the two datasets ‘Radwege Wuppertal’ and ‘Radwege Wuppertal’, which contain the complete cycle network of the city, represented by the central axes of the associated roads and paths. The dataset of the illuminated routes is therefore to be understood as a supplement to these two datasets. It is available in the form of ESRI shapefiles, KML and GeoJSON files as open data under CC BY 4.0.
