Description
Soil 1:20 000/1:50 000 contains material produced for land use planning, soil raw materials research and inventory, environmental management and scientific research. As a rule, the mapping scale has been 1:10,000. The data presents a subsoil at a depth of 1 m (modified RT classification). The minimum size of the demersal pattern is usually 2 hectares; with the exception of islands, swamp and field islands and geologically significant sites. The 0.4-0.9 m thick soil layer on top of the subsoil is described as a topsoil. The minimum surface area size is usually 4 hectares. In addition to soils, the material describes geological soil formations, such as ridges and kumpumoreens. Other mapping sites, such as dunes and ancient beaches, are presented as linear data.
