Composition of vehicle fleet
Description
The total Flemish fleet continues to increase in size, but this increase has been less rapid in recent years.
About half of the new and total fleet consists of petrol cars.
The share of diesel cars in the new and total fleet continues to fall. In the new fleet, this share has been halved. The share of zero-emission cars (electric and hydrogen) in the new fleet is constantly increasing (22% in 2023). Growth is faster for commercial vehicles (27% in 2023) than for private cars (7% in 2023). In 2023, we achieved the zero-emission target for the new fleet (20 %) of 2025 for the first time.Improving the environmental performance of the total Flemish fleet: in 2023, the average ecoscore was 66.
