Description
The dataset water towers contains all 306 known, currently existing water towers in the Netherlands. This is based on the inventory published at https://www.watertorens.eu.
The oldest surviving water tower dates from 1671. 116 water towers have been designated as national monuments. Due to technological developments, their function as a water tower has ended. The characteristic landscape elements are therefore sometimes repurposed.
