Water rights for groundwater and surface waters Hamburg

Description

The approximately 20,000 registered water rights include the rights of use of above-ground waters and groundwater, which go beyond general use and are transferred by the competent water authorities through administrative acts. The following categories of rights of use are listed: Groundwater: - Lowering and other use - Discharge into groundwater - Energy production - Extraction from groundwater Surface water: - Installation on/in/over waters - Expansion/entertainment - Discharge into surface waters - Removal from surface waters - Flood protection - traffic jams - Other uses The water rights are entered in the water book, which is to be kept in accordance with § 87 of the Water Resources Act (WHG) in conjunction with § 98 et seq. of the Hamburg Water Act (HWaG). The water book is kept by the Office for Environmental Protection and contains the type of use (e.g. groundwater extraction, construction of a jetty) as well as information on the extent of use (e.g. permitted flow rates, size of the jetty). The data provided here includes a map display and a download service with the locations and essential contents of the water rights. A complete process in the water book consists of a digital, keyword-like short description of the right of use, which is supplemented by a digital file containing a copy of the decision or other documents by which the right of use is justified. The files on water rights can be consulted at the Office for Environmental Protection. The data is provided as a WFS download service and as a WMS rendering service.
