Detailed report on the near-term forecast of Austrian greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
Description
The near-term forecast of greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector was carried out in 2022 using a significantly upgraded methodology and shows provisional emissions for 2021 amounting to approximately 21.6 million tonnes. Compared to 2020, this represents an increase of 4.3 % and 0.9 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. In line with the requirements of the Mobility Master Plan 2030 for Austria, complementary mobility-relevant indicators were evaluated.
Primary indicators, i.e. input data for modelling, and secondary indicators, which are model results, were used.
Both sets of indicators show a significant increase in activity compared to 2020 on all modes of transport (including off-road areas) as well as in passenger and freight transport.
