Inspire Dataset of Forest Function Other Water Protection Forest in Baden-Württemberg. Water protection forest serves to keep the groundwater clean as well as standing and flowing surface water. Other water protection forest and forest on areas with formally defined water purpose limitation ensures and improves the quality of groundwater as well as standing and flowing surface waters. It improves the steadyness of water donation and at the same time reduces the risk of flood damage and erosion. In contrast to the legally designated water protection forest, the Other Water Protection Forest is made up of forest areas on which the Water Management Administration plans in the (closer) future protected areas according to the Water Act. These are both extensions of existing protected areas and new designations.
