The static theme. Displays data for the 2021 revised Natura 2000 baseline analysis 2022-2027 underlying the 2021 consultation of the Natura 2000 plans 2022-2027.
The theme shows which data were applicable 1/5-2021. A Ramsar area is one of three types of international nature protection areas: EC Bird Protection Areas, EC Habitats Areas and Ramsar Areas. The first two are collectively referred to as Natura 2000 sites. Ramsar areas are protected wetlands of particular importance to birds. Ramsar areas have been designated on the basis of the "Convention of 2 February 1971 on Wetlands of International Importance, Especially as Waterfowl Habitat" - also called the "Ramsar Convention" after the city in Iran where the Convention was established. Denmark subsequently approved the Protocol of Amendment to the Convention of 3 December 1982 and the Convention of 3 June 1987. Denmark has designated 27 Ramsar areas with a total area of approximately 7,400 km2. The total area is distributed with about 6,000 km2 as marine areas and about 1,400 km2 on land, as the Danish Ramsar areas often include salt meadows or other areas bordering the wetlands.
