City of Helsinki building ban map

Description

The City of Helsinki’s building ban map is a map of the blocked areas in force in the city area in accordance with section 53 of the Land Use and Building Act. In accordance with the Act, a municipality may impose a construction ban on an area where the drawing up or amendment of the local development plan is pending. The prohibition ends when a new town plan drawn up for the area becomes final. The prohibition shall be valid for a maximum of two years. Due to the fact that the planning is incomplete, the municipality may extend the prohibition period by two years at a time. Construction bans are determined during the planning process, and the planning process is under the responsibility of the Urban Environment Division’s Station Planning. Helsinki’s construction ban map is maintained by urban survey services of the Urban Environment Division. The maintenance of the material is continuous.
