Water storage capacity subsurface
Description
Water can be stored in many places, including in the subsurface.
Water retention in unsaturated zones can be determined by determining the difference between groundwater levels and AHN. This shows how much water can potentially still be brewed in the unsaturated zone.
The map maximum storage in groundwater expresses how much water (in mm) can still be stored in the ground compared to a current wet situation. Because this will vary per location, no further assumptions have been made about how wet is still desirable, or how much water can be salvaged given the current drainage structure. Simply put, the map expresses how much water you can lose in the soil, when it can be filled to the edge (ground level).
