Depth of the base Zechstein in the duck beak
Description
The base of the Zechstein can be mapped almost nationwide throughout the entire duck beak and runs at depths between 2400 and 7 800 m. The largest depth is reached at about 7 800 m in the central trench. Especially in the north-western duck beak and partly also on disturbance-bound high altitudes, especially in the Upper Jura the Zechstein sequences were eroded, or in a few cases completely eroded. The structure of the Zechstein base and its over 200 traces of disturbance can be seen in the changing history of the duck beak. Large disturbance zones such as the Mads disorder, or the disturbances that limit the central trench to the east, are depicted in the map representation by wide horizontal outcrops.
