Sampling with oceanographic rosette in Campaign INTEMARES-COLCARTO_0221
Description
The information contained in this data set corresponds to the samplings carried out with oceanographic rosette during the INTEMARES-COLCARTO_0221 campaign, in the waters of the Levantine-Balearic demarcation. The objective of sampling is the detection of emission points of hydrothermal products.
This is the representation of the spatial distribution of the lines in which transects were made with the oceanographic rosette.
The area comprising the data provided is located in waters around the Columbretes Islands. In total, 15 tow-yo sampling transects (in the bottom and water column) and 33 vertical points were carried out with the oceanographic rosette. The tow-yo methodology consists of raising and lowering the rosette between 1-10 meters from the bottom while the vessel performs linear transects at a speed of 0.4 knots thanks to the use of dynamic positioning, DP.
This information is composed of a data set formed by linear elements, where each line represents the situation of the sampling station where data were taken.
The preparation of this set of geographical information began in 2021, thanks to the oceanographic campaign INTEMARES-COLCARTO_0221.
The geographical information collected is stored in a spatial database.
These works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
