Description

The dataset provides the data relating to the experimental survey launched by ARTI at the end of 2013 on the 6 Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) and which were used for the preparation of the report ‘La Puglia delle Key Enabling Technologies – Primo step’. These data are those provided only by participants who have given their consent to the processing of data. In addition, only the data entered in the aforementioned report have been made public, according to the logics specified below. - Scientific publications: Listed are the scientific publications declared by the research facilities, carried out in the period 2010-2013 and which constitute the “top 25%” publications among those declared overall. In each KET, there are articles from very diverse scientific-disciplinary sectors, where internationally recognised bibliometric criteria, such as the Impact Factor, may be differentiated in their absolute numerical weight and, consequently, such as to make it difficult even to compare them in absolute terms. Therefore, in a non-exhaustive attempt to account for this discrepancy, a standardisation exercise was carried out: for each KET, the publications attributed to it by the participating structures were sorted by increasing Impact Factor. Given this distribution, quartiles were then calculated, i.e. those values that divide each ordered distribution into four parts of equal number. The position indices calculated in this way make it possible to calculate differentiated impact factor ranges for each KET. In particular, the lower end of the last range (4th quartile), calculated for each KET, makes it possible to identify a threshold value above which to identify the ‘top 25%’ publications among those declared. - Patents: only patents valid on 31/12/2013 and connected to the Apulian territory are listed, i.e. having at least one holder with registered office in Puglia or at least one inventor with residence in a municipality of the Apulian territory.
