Soil maps

Description

The soil map (JB map) was prepared for the Danish Agricultural Agency in 2014 by DCA (National Centre for Food and Agriculture) at Aarhus University. The JB card replaces the previous soil classification maps. The JB map is derived from new nationwide 3D texture maps that show the earth’s texture throughout the root zone. The new JB map has been prepared using statistical methods (regression waring) using all available point observations of the earth’s texture (about 55.000 points) as well as a number of environmental data, such as the Earth map, the landscape element map and Denmark’s height model. The new JB map consists of 11 soil classes and covers all of Denmark, including forests and cities.
