Refreshment Fountain Frankfurt am Main
Description
Frankfurt is becoming increasingly aware of climate change. Long-lasting periods of heat with heat records have increased significantly in recent years. The city has to adapt to the rising temperatures. This is particularly noticeable in the inner city area of Frankfurt am Main, because the dense buildings, high sealing and lower ventilation create real heat islands.
Frankfurt am Main has a lot of inconspicuous and hidden historical fountains in the old town, which are fed with drinking water. They are also frequented in the Sachsenhausen district. In total, there are 48 such simple sandstone columns with a low basin, which are indicated on the map as a refreshment fountain.
