Description
List of species present in Umbria belonging to the classes Amphibians, Reptiles, Mammals and Birds.
Article 9 of Regional Law No 14/1994 on hunting in Umbria, entitled ‘Observatory of habitats and faunal populations’, provides: in order to ensure the monitoring of the consistency and dynamics of wildlife populations and the determination of species presence indices, the Regional Council is authorised to establish, within the functional area of competence, the Observatory of Natural Habitats and Wildlife Populations.
The Forests, Mountains, Nature and Wildlife Service carries out the activities of the Observatory of Natural Habitats and Wildlife Populations (Regional Wildlife Observatory), as provided for by a memorandum of understanding between the Region and the provinces of Perugia and Terni.
