Surrounding the Black Forest National Park
According to ยง 24 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act, national parks are legally binding areas to be protected which:
1. are large-scale, largely uncut and of special peculiarity,
2. meet the requirements of a nature reserve in a large part of its territory; and
In a predominant part of their territory are in a state not or little influenced by man, or are likely to develop into a state or to be developed into a state which ensures the most undisturbed course of natural processes in their natural dynamics.
The aim of national parks is to ensure, in the vast majority of their territory, the most undisturbed course of natural processes in their natural dynamics. As far as the purpose of protection permits, national parks should also serve scientific environmental observation, natural history education and the natural experience of the population.
