Description
The field block map is a digital field map, with agricultural land collected in field blocks. A field block is a geographically coherent unit of agricultural land. The boundaries of the field blocks typically follow permanent boundaries in the landscape. The map is used in the administration of cases related to geographical location of arable land, primarily of EU area-based support schemes. The Mark Block Card is updated on the basis of orthophoto and reports from farmers and authorities. The field block map covers approximately 2.8 million hectares of agricultural land. Each field block is identified by a field block number, area, type. A parcel of land shall mean a continuous area on which one or more farmers cultivate one or more different crops. The card is updated every night with changes from the case handling.
