Description
Bathing waters on rivers and lakes (designation by the federal states, central collection in the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection) Bathing waters are those sections of surface water (= standing and flowing waters with the exception of small bathing ponds) in which
-a large number of bathers are expected and
-for which no permanent bathing ban has been issued or for which bathing is not permanently discouraged.
Bathing sites are those places in bathing waters where most bathers are expected or where the greatest risk of pollution is to be expected. A surface water can therefore have one or more bathing waters. In the area of each bathing water there is usually a sampling point (bathing area).
