Description
Commercial areas are concentrations of establishments in Statistics Sweden’s business database with SNI 47 Retail trade, which together form a geographically defined area, consisting of:
1. at least five retail establishments; or
2. four retail establishments, which together have at least 100 employees.
The purpose of the trade areas is to provide both a comprehensive and comprehensive picture of the retail sector in Sweden, in terms of geographical location, number of trading areas, number of employees in the commercial areas and how much land they use.
Trading areas are reported as surfaces.
Commercial areas may overlap with other types of area boundaries from Statistics Sweden, such as agglomerations and small towns. Trading areas are complementary to the data set of areas of activity. These two types of area can overlap geographically. Trading areas are published every five years from 2015.
