Nitrogen reduction potentials
Description
The theme shows the nitrogen reduction potential from root zone to water body in percentages. The reduction potential was used together with the mapping of catchment areas for vulnerable and highly vulnerable Natura 2000 areas to determine nitrate classes in accordance with the Livestock Approval Order, in the livestock regulation in force until 1 March 2017.
The map is an update of the historical map of the same name, and contributed to updating the professional basis for the Nitrate Classes. The professional basis represented by the map is still part of the regulation of where in the country additional livestock catch crops are to be established. This regulation is now taking place as part of the fertiliser accounts.
In connection with the publication of the map on Denmark's Land Information in September 2016, the map was divided into 3 retention classes (0-50 % retention, 51-75 % retention and 76 – 100% retention) instead of the original 5.
