Curious noses in the garden
Description
CurieuzeNeuzen in de Tuin is a citizen science project in which the participants equip the lawn of their own garden, school, association or company with a sensor that measures the soil, air and surface temperature and soil moisture. During the first phase of the project, the measurement period ran from 1/6/2020 to 1/10/2020. This phase served as a pilot project to map variation in microclimate, soil texture and soil carbon within one garden. During the second phase of the project, the measurement period ran from 3/4/2021 to 2/10/2021. 4,400 citizen scientists participated in this phase. All participants also collected a soil sample, which was analyzed for soil carbon and soil texture. During the third phase of the project, the measurement period ran from 28/3/2022 to 1/10/2022. In this phase, 2,800 of the 4,400 citizen scientists participated again. No soil samples were analysed during this phase.
