Land cover map 2005 of Lower Saxony 1 : 25 000
Description
The map shows an analysis of satellite images from 2005 of the CORINE land cover units (level 1 for all classes and level 2 for built-up areas).
Evaluation of satellite images from 2005 with regard to CORINE land cover units (level 1 for all classes and level 2 for built-up areas):
- 11000 Urban embossed surfaces
- 12000 industrial, commercial and transport areas
- 13000 mining areas, landfills and construction sites
- 14000 artificial green areas not used for agriculture
- 20000 agricultural land
- 30000 forests and semi-natural areas
- 40000 wetlands
- 50000 water areas
The data were validated using high-resolution orthophotos (point-based sample: for each point in a sample, the mapping result is compared with the real land use from the orthophoto). The pixel resolution is 10 m. In the class ‘industrial, commercial and traffic areas’, roads are only mapped from a width of 40 m. The positional accuracy of the satellite data is +/-1 pixels (i.e. +/-10 m) according to the product specifications. The data accuracy is given as about 90%.
