Search room scenery Moorrenaturierung (LEP 2013)

Description

For the Free State of Saxony, a comprehensive overview of the moors and other organic wet sites from the SIMON project is available (DITTRICH et al. 2011 https://www.boden.sachsen.de/erstellung-fachkonzept-landesweits-informationssystem-moore-und-organische-wetstandorte-simon-18146.html). For this purpose, in addition to areas that are subject to the soil-scientific peat definition (> 30 cm peat), including soils with shallower peat pads (from soil maps, geological maps) and moor-typical wet habitats (moor-typical biotopes from selective biotope mapping, moor-typical FFH habitat types, partly without proven peat pad) and the maximum area formed from all map bases used. The moorland areas of Saxony were thus not defined purely in terms of soil science, but in terms of ecosystems, including the moor biotopes and peat-forming vegetation. These areas are grouped together as peatland complexes and form the search space backdrop for renaturation of peatland and wetland sites. The data show the moor complexes in a differentiated way where: a) a bog-typical vegetation has been mapped on a bog-typical abiotic site (3700 ha or 8 percent of the bog complex area) these are the areas still relatively close to nature according to a first rough estimate, b) a bog-typical site is mapped, but no natural bog-typical biotopes (more) are present (27000 ha or 57.5 percent), c) bog-typical biotopes or FFH-LRT are mapped, but no bog-typical site (16100 ha, 34.5 percent) is shown in soil and geological maps.
