In addition to other DLM and other digital geotopographic data (DTK, DGM, DOP), the DLM50 is part of the Official Topographic Cartographic Information System (ATKIS). The Digital Landscape Model 50 (DLM 50.1) is derived from the Digital Basic Landscape Model (Basic DLM) by model generalization. Digital landscape models (DLM) model the landscape in an object-structured vector form. Characteristic of the DLM is the scale-free, true-to-scale modelling of the point-, line- and surface-shaped objects, which completely cover the entire area of Baden-Württemberg, whereby the landscape (real world) is geometrically modeled by means of objects (point-, line-, surface-shaped) and described by means of attributes. For signature and readable presentation, the DLM will be transferred to the Digital Topographic Map (DTK50) using suitable processes (generalization, signature). Mathematical methods of generalization are used to simplify data structures and reduce data volume.
