The thickness of the Eocene in the duck beak
Description
The maximum thickness of the Eocene is about 1 000 m and is reached in the northwest of the duck beak in an oval NNW-SSE oriented sink (outer rough basin). In contrast to the Paleocene’s width distribution, there is a clear increase in widths according to NW. Disturbance zones and some salt structures continue to have a significant influence on the width distribution, but in contrast to the paleocene, a decrease in disturbance activity and also a decrease in salt movements can be detected.
