Description
The map showing the organic matter content in the top layer of the soil (the top twenty centimeters) is made by Alterra Wageningen. Organic matter in the soil is largely derived from plants and plant roots and for a small part of animal organisms. Organic matter in the soil is important for the binding of nutrients and soil moisture, the structure, soil organisms, soil fertility and soil profile rootability.
