WFS Water Boundary Density
Description
The indicator records the lengths of all smaller rivers (3 m average width) as linear elements, as well as the edge lengths of larger rivers (6 m average width) and area waters and refers to the respective area area. This indicator has several meanings: —from an ecological point of view, as just edge areas and shorelines have a high biodiversity. from an anthropogenic point of view, as a diverse landscape is perceived as attractive. Water edge lines are classified as particularly important in relevant models. Here, water-bearing and non-piped waters are only considered year-round.
