EasyGSH-DB: Sedimentology [csv] (1996, 2006, 2016)

Description

Mass percentage grain fractionation (¼-ë intervals) Definition: A sum curve is a continuous, monotonous mathematical function, which at any point represents a mass fraction for the corresponding grain size. In order to be able to store this function humanly readable, it is discreted at predetermined intervals, here in the scaled sum curve in ¼-¼ increments. Data generation: The basis for sedimentological evaluations are surface sediment samples, which were interpolated in the context of the EasyGSH project by means of anisotropic interpolation methods and taking into account hydrodynamic factors and erosion and sedimentation processes from individual samples of different years to a grid valid for one year. At each of these grid nodes, the sediment distribution is therefore available as a sum curve. For Deutsche Bucht, this basic product is available for 1996, 2006 and 2016 in a 100 m grid, for the exclusive economic zone of Germany for 1996 in a 250 m grid. From these sum curves, the total mass portion of the respective interval is calculated and tabulated in the value range of the respective intervals. Product: 100 m grid of the German Bay (1996, 2006, 2016) and 250 m grid of the Exclusive Economic Zone (1996), where the following information is provided for each grid node: • Information about the data creator (through interpolation and rastering smile consult GmbH) • Sample designation (by interpolation and rastering serial number) • Validity date of the grain distribution • Location of grain distribution • Height of grain distribution • Coordinate system • Median grain diameter d50 • Tabular list of the ¼-¼ intervals with their mass fractions The product is provided in CSV format.
