Environmental ordinance, Nature Network Brabant
Description
The Nature Network Brabant is one of the three locations that, together with Urban Area and Rural Area, is included in Noord-Brabant. These three sites are the main structures of the Environmental Regulation and do not overlap with each other.
The Nature Network Brabant (NNB) is a coherent network of nature reserves and agricultural areas with natural values of (inter)national importance, such as forests, heaths and fens, drifting dunes, grasslands, rivers and streams. The aim of the NNB policy is to safeguard ecosystems and create habitats with good conditions for biodiversity. These habitats are important for animal and plant species to protect and develop. The protection takes place via the spatial definition of the boundaries of the Natuur Netwerk Brabant (NNB) in the Environmental Ordinance. The Environmental Ordinance for North Brabant stipulates that an environmental plan located within the NNB must be aimed at the protection and development of nature. What type of nature the requirements of the environmental plan should be aimed at is not regulated in the environmental ordinance itself, but in the Nature Management Plan adopted by the Provincial Executive.
