Description
The Open Protection Center for the Elderly of Kalamaria (KAPI) was established in 1983 by decision of the Minister of Health and Welfare, is a legal entity governed by public law with six branches in the areas of Center-Kifissia-Krini-Phoinika-Karabournaki and Ai Giannis.
The Municipality of Kalamaria, which for years has shown its interest in its elderly citizens to whom it owes the progress and development of the city, continues to support and subsidize the programs of KAPI.
Purpose of CFPs
Preventing biological, psychological and social problems of older people so that they remain equal and active members of society
The education and cooperation of society as a whole and the special bodies on the problems and needs of the elderly
Primary prevention (vaccination, advice on avoiding accidents)
Secondary prevention (medical examinations aimed at early diagnosis)
What services are offered at KAPI?
Counselling, psycho-emotional support, social care for the elderly and their families
Care and instructions for Medical and Hospital Care
Physiotherapy
Occupational therapy
Home service
Organized entertainment (choir, dance groups)
Participation in balneotherapy programs and summer camps
Telehelp Program
Volunteering programmes
Training, lectures, study of subjects, visits to museums and archaeological sites
KAPI is staffed by Doctors, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses as well as Family Assistants.
Members of the KAPI can become:
People aged 60 years and over, men and women regardless of their economic and social situation.
Registration documents: ID card, DEKO receipt, 2 recent small photos and 6 euros
What is particularly important in the concept of open protection of the elderly of our Municipality is their stay in the community, in the familiar environment of the family, the neighborhood, the friendly surroundings and the avoidance of institutional closed care and other forms of asylum.
