Description
The European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) has adopted a Master Plan for Transport Infrastructure (SDIT), establishing its roadmap for major structuring public transport infrastructure by 2035. This scheme, the subject of deliberation No. 19 C 0312, adopted at the Metropolitan Council meeting of 28 June 2019, provides in particular for the creation of new structuring public transport links.
The SDIT is operationally divided into two components corresponding to major public transport infrastructures in connection with metropolitan France:
\- The regional rail network, in its role of articulation with metropolitan networks, becoming a constituent element of the urban transport network, in particular through its tariff integration.
\- New "metropolitan" connections by public transport.
The projects in this consultation form part of the most structuring elements of these ‘new links’, comprising some 20 separate projects, ranging from the extension of the metro to the improvement of the level of service of certain existing lines or the creation of circular bus lines and the establishment of express bus links.
This scheme was the subject of a two-month consultation in the first half of 2019. As regards the general public, 8000 internet connections and 859 internet users’ contributions fed into the consultation (320 replies to the questionnaire, 329 contributions on the links proposed by the MEL, 99 proposals for internet users’ links and 111 free contributions).
