Description
The data were taken from a study promoted by the Province of Turin in the context of the "Research program on the maintenance and restoration of riverbeds, as well as in the field of hydrogeological protection and soil protection".The dataset represents some critical elements associated with the full occurred along the shaft of the Dora Baltea stream following the flood event of 13-16/10/2000 and reported in the "Study of the Dora Baltea canavesana in the section between Carema and the Po. Update of the intervention proposals following the flood event 13-16/10/2000" (January 2001) and constitutes a summary update of the previous studies done on the Dora Baltea basin, as part of the "Research Program".The study analyzed the aspects related to geomorphology, the state of maintenance of the artifacts, hydrology and hydraulics of the area under investigation, defining the critical situations along the river shaft (shore erosion, floodable areas, etc); The hydraulic dynamics of the Dora Baltea have also been described and verified in the event of major flood events. In particular, the technical analyses focused on the sector known as the "hydraulic node of Ivrea" with the aim of supporting the natural hydraulic dynamics, favoring the accumulation of water in the large flood basin north of Ivrea and the flooding in "controlled" areas downstream, along the paleoalveo.
