Potential linear connection areas of the network of waterways - Metropolitan City of Florence
Description
Identification of the quality of potential linear connection areas of the watercourse network. There are four types of river connections identified:- continuous potential stretch (river): stretch of a watercourse of less than 500 m length that crosses areas of medium or high naturalness (woods, meadows or pastures) but for which data on water quality are lacking and information on faunal stands is very scarce or absent;- potential stretch to be redeveloped (river): section of a watercourse that crosses medium-anthropized areas (agricultural areas, small urban centers) and has potential characteristics of a corridor (contiguity with sections of better quality, actual or potential) but for which data on water quality are missing and information on faunal stands are very scarce or absent;- potentially interrupted section (river): section of a watercourse that crosses highly man-made areas (urban centres) or that crosses medium man-made areas (agricultural areas, small urban centres) but not adjacent to sections of better quality, actual or potential, for which data on water quality are lacking and information on faunal stands is very scarce or absent;- interrupted section (river): section of a heavily polluted or artificial watercourse (channel).
