Gesäuse National Park — Landscape of Extremes
Description
The Gesäuse National Park is characterised by its geological and geomorphological structure. Especially the extreme relief energy is significant. The Gesäuse National Park therefore offers itself as an investigation area for extreme events in the areas of wild stream and river, but also storms and avalanches. It is characterised by the frequent occurrence of highly dynamic, natural processes. This results in a high biodiversity and preserving it is one of the most urgent tasks of the National Park Administration. At the same time, the protection of the infrastructure must of course continue to be granted. This tension between the free dynamics of nature and the optimal protection of people and infrastructure makes up the peculiarity of natural space management in the Gesäuse National Park.
