IPPC retrofitting in Austria
Description
The main analysis of the adaptation of IPPC old plants on the basis of foundries, intensive livestock farms, glass industry and combustion plants in Upper Austria and Styria shows: Deficiencies in completeness persist, in particular in the case of changes in the capacity of commercial facilities and intensive livestock farms. The authorities consider most of the old installations to be adapted. Their emissions are predominantly in the BAT area (best available techniques, BAT documents). The content of the limit values in the decisions was adjusted in the case of change permits and in accordance with the Emissions Protection Act for boiler plants. Synergies with environmental inspections will be exploited. According to EU Directive 2008/1/EC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control, IPPC), all plants within the scope had to comply with the requirements of the Directive by 30 October 2007.
