Description
The information contained in this dataset is a raster of the bathymetry of the area with a resolution of 200 m, with depths between 36 and 216 m.
The area comprising the data provided corresponds to a sector of the continental shelf of the Avilés System of Submarine Cannons.
The raw data that constitute this raster were acquired during the years 2010, 2011 and 2012, thanks to the oceanographic campaigns INDEMARES AVILÉS 0410 and 0511, on board the B/O Visconde de Eza, INDEMARES AVILÉS 0412, on board the B/O Ramón Margalef and INDEMARES AVILÉS 0912 on board the B/O Ángeles Alvariño. During 2019 and 2020 the data was reprocessed with the latest techniques available in processing software and new digital elevation models were acquired, improving spatial resolution and data quality.
The geographical information collected is stored in a spatial database.
The reprocessing works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
