Description
Founded on the site of a Slavic fishing village as a merchant's settlement and stately castle, Dresden was the residence of the Saxon dukes, electors and later kings since the 15th century.
The city experienced glamorous and tragic times, it was a magnificent center of European politics, culture and economy, especially in the 18th century, and only two centuries later became synonymous with apocalyptic destruction.
Dresden was and still is a unique place for Dresdeners and friends all over the world, whose fascination is also based on a rich history.
