Eco-innovation and research
Description
Using the solar collector, the wind turbine and the lithium-ion battery as examples, the report examines which factors were decisive for technological leaps in the development of these eco-innovations and how much time was required for this. In addition to a mature technology, other factors are also relevant for the market penetration of eco-innovations. In particular, legal framework conditions trigger technological leaps that take into account the need for resource savings, climate and environmental protection. Better products or lower costs also lead to higher penetration levels. Research is not only a prerequisite for innovation, but also a service for the entire eco-innovation process. As a result, new areas of application can be opened up and a significant benefit and added value can be generated in the application.
