Description
The bedrock map is a two-dimensional model of the bedrock's upper surface, describing important characteristics of identified geological units, their geometry, the material that builds the units and the geological events they have undergone. The bedrock map also includes the structures of the bedrock and their properties. The bedrock map is based on geological field observations in combination with interpretation of analytical results and geophysical data. The purpose of the bedrock map is to provide a basis for analyses in connection with exploration, comprehensive planning of buildings and facilities, geothermal energy extraction, work with various issues in the environmental field, research and education. The information in the map can be used for the production of various thematic products, e.g. maps of nutrient content, thermal conductivity and suitability for installations.
