Detailed report on the near-term forecast of Austrian greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
Description
The near-term forecast of greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector was carried out in 2022 using a significantly upgraded methodology and shows preliminary emissions for 2021 of around 21.6 million tonnes. Compared to 2020, this represents an increase of 4.3% or 0.9 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. In accordance with the requirements of the Mobility Master Plan 2030 for Austria, additional mobility-relevant indicators were evaluated for this purpose. Primary indicators, i.e. input data for modelling, and secondary indicators, i.e. model results, were used. Both sets of indicators show a significant increase in activity compared to 2020 in all modes of transport (including off-road) as well as in passenger and freight transport.
