Housemate network (from 01-01-2009)

Description

This network layer contains all roommate relationships of individuals who are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) on 1 January YYYY. Persons who are registered with the BRP on 1 January YYYY and who live at the same address as the person in question are considered as roommates. The basis of this file are the GBAADRESOBJECTYYYBUSVV and the GBAHUISHOUDENSYYYYBUSVV. This file is part of a network file set. This network file set also contains the following files: BURENNETWORKYYYYTABVV, COLLEGANETWORKYYYYTABVV, FAMILYNETWORKYYYYTABVV and CLASS-GENOTENNETWORKYYYTABVV. These files have the same structure. The housemate network layer based on logical assumptions and available data compiled as well as possible. It contains assumptions, artifacts, and noise. They are suitable for many research purposes, but not for statistics or counts of numbers of relationships. For some research questions, the limitations of the files will be more relevant than for others. Much of the noise is mediated on a large (research) scale. But in all cases it is important that researchers who work with the data take due account of the underlying derivation rules, and if in doubt consult a CBS expert in the field of these networks. The roommate relationships that are established in this network do not mean that these roommates by definition have contact with each other in practice (although that is more likely in the case of roommates than in the other network layers). Persons living in an institution are institutional housemates of other persons living at the same address. As soon as at least one person is indicated at an address that he or she lives in an institution (TYPHH==8 in GBAHUISHOUDENSYYYJBUS), it is assumed that all residents at this address live in an institution. In some cases it happens that there is a difference in the TYPHH of the residents within one address, with one part according to TYPHH living in an institution and another part not. In these cases, it is decided to consider all residents at that address as residents of an institution. The roommate relationships that are established in this network do not mean that these roommates by definition have contact with each other in practice (although that is more likely in the case of roommates than in the other network layers). These relationships can be seen as a reservoir of potential contacts. ### Population This network layer contains all roommate relationships of individuals who are registered in the BRP on 1 January YYYY. Persons who are registered with the BRP on 1 January YYYY and who live at the same address as the person in question are considered as roommates. These files are not suitable to reproduce official population numbers on 1 January according to Statline. To do this, use the GBASTANDPOPULATIONTAB component.
