### Methodology
Based on the Statistics Financial Large Enterprises (SFGO), a file has been designed in which the variable changes that have taken place over the years are eliminated. The variables in Danflex are summations of the variables from the SFGO. The companies that have been certified as good are included in this list. The database serves as a basis for various publications and research.
### Population
The collection of information on Dutch enterprises in the industrial sector started in 1977, followed by the trade sector in 1980. In 1983, statistics were supplemented by the service and transport sectors. In 1977 it was decided to classify a company as large if its balance sheet total exceeded 10 million guilders. For various reasons, it has been decided to raise this lower limit to 25 million. This criterion is based in principle on the balance sheet total at the beginning of the financial year. If this cannot be determined, the selection, like the stratum determination, is based on the balance sheet total at the end of the financial year. Since 1983, DANFLEX has included all Dutch non-financial companies with a balance sheet total of more than 25 million. From 2001 the balance sheet total has been changed to 23 million or more and from 2011 onwards the limit has been increased to 40 million or more.
