National Cohort Research Education (NCO) The NCO microdata files were compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) for the National Cohort Research Education (NCO). The NCO has been initiated and is funded by the National Educational Research Agency (NRO). For these files, existing register data from the social-statistical files (SSB) of CBS and existing educational records of the Education Basic Register (BRON) of the Education Implementation Service (DUO) have been combined. This file contains the enrolment and examination details of students in Secondary Vocational Education. The year in the file name refers to the relevant academic year JYYY/YYYY+ 1. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology For the registrations, the pre- and post-registrations were also included, and therefore not only the students who were registered on 1 October, The files may include students who do have a MBO degree, but do not have a MBO enrollment. ### Population The files contain the data of students who have been in (special) primary or secondary education in previous years, and thus appear in one of the backbone files. Because it concerns students who enter from (special) primary education or secondary education, it is not possible to make an overview of all students in secondary vocational education (mbo) based on these files.
