Description
The objective of the Self-Employed Labour Survey (ZEA) is to map information in the fields of working conditions, employment content, employment relations and working conditions of self-employed persons. The ZEA is carried out by TNO and CBS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

### Methodology
With the ZEA, there are unequal opportunities and there are differences in response. As a result, the selection of the sample will differ from the composition of the population. The weighing technique that can remedy this is post-stratification. In determining the weighing factors by means of post-stratification, account shall be taken of the unequal draw odds resulting from the sampling used and the distortion resulting from non-response shall be reduced. The weighting uses register data on gender, age, industry, origin, part of the country, urbanity and disposable household income. In addition, the Occupational Population Survey uses data on training.
### Population
In 2019, the ZEA target population consisted of self-employed entrepreneurs aged 15 and over, living in private households in the Netherlands that report profits to the Tax and Customs Administration.
