National Cohort Research Education with data of pupils belonging to a cohort in secondary education (from 01-09-2007)

Description

National Cohort Research Education (NCO) The NCO microdata files were compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) for the National Cohort Research Education (NCO). The NCO has been initiated and is funded by the National Educational Research Agency (NRO). For these files, existing register data from the social-statistical files (SSB) of CBS and existing educational records of the Education Basic Register (BRON) of the Education Implementation Service (DUO) have been combined. The files are intended as a backbone and contain the torque key (RINPERSOON and RINPERSOONS) and the school year in which the pupil entered the cohort. In addition, they contain a diploma variable for each type of school and a variable for the school year in which the student obtained that diploma. The year in the file name refers to the relevant school year JYYY/YYYY+ 1 in secondary education. For pupils who, after obtaining their diploma, have started to study in secondary education, and also obtain a diploma for that, it is indicated for both programmes that a diploma has been obtained and the year in which that diploma was obtained is also indicated. These pupils who are still training in secondary education (VO) are found in several cohorts (back files). This also applies to students who stay or accelerate. If they stay in grade 1, the starting year in both cohorts is equal to the selected cohort. In all other situations, in the cohort in which they started, the starting year corresponds to the cohort year, and that they have a later start year in the cohort in which they enter. Based on the start year, the pupils who were originally started in the respective cohort can be selected. Because the side-influencers are also included, a cross-section of all pupils in a certain grade and school year can be given by linking with the educational characteristics. ### Population These files contain data from the pupils who are in the first year of secondary education in a given year, supplemented each year by the side-influencers.
