Description
National Cohort Research Education (NCO)
The NCO microdata files have been compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) for the National Cohort Research Education (NCO). The NCO has been initiated and is funded by the National Education Research Agency (NRO). For these files, existing register data from the socio-statistical files (SSB) of Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and existing education registrations from the Basisregister Onderwijs (BRON) of the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) have been combined.
This file contains the enrolment data of pupils in secondary special education (VSO).
The year in the file name refers to the relevant school year YYYY/YYYY+1.

### Methodology
The NCOSODEF files contain final registration data, the NCOSOVRL file contains provisional registration data.
### Population
The files contain the data of pupils who have been in (special) primary or secondary education in previous years, and thus appear in one of the cohorts.
Because it only concerns pupils who enter from (special) primary education or (secondary) special education, it is not possible to make an overview of all pupils in (secondary) special education on the basis of these files.
