National Cohort Research Education (NCO)
The NCO microdata files were compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) for the National Cohort Research Education (NCO). The NCO has been initiated and is funded by the National Educational Research Agency (NRO). For these files, existing register data from the social-statistical files (SSB) of CBS and existing educational records of the Education Basic Register (BRON) of the Education Implementation Service (DUO) have been combined.
The year in the file name refers to the relevant school year YYYY/YYYY+ 1.

### Methodology
The NCOBRINVO files contain the school data of pupils who appear in at least one of the Secondary Education (VO) backbone files. These VO backbone files can be linked to the school data of secondary school pupils based on the link key (RINPERSOON and RINPERSOONS). From school year 2018/'19, however, information can also be linked to the PO cohorts for the first time. Then the pupils from the PO-cohort 2010 are largely in the first class of secondary education.
The school data is included in the files at person level and can be aggregated by the researcher himself at BRIN(VEST) level if desired.
### Population
The NCOBRINVO files contain the school data of all secondary school pupils at person level.
The NCOBRINVODEF files contain definitive school data, NCOBRINVOVRL files contain preliminary school data.
